Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) Services
Tetra Tech offers strong DSEAR engineering capabilities, with extensive experience across multiple industries including commercial, nuclear, defence, water recycling centres, oil and gas onshore and offshore platforms, product manufacturing, vehicle manufacturing, chemicals and energy from waste.
Our team are experienced with DSEAR implementation from concept design to facility decommissioning. Our DSEAR expertise includes:
- Developing DSEAR documents, such as policies, procedures, risk assessments, hazardous area classification reports, ATEX / Ex equipment specifications, ignition source assessments (e.g. mechanical equipment, RFI, etc).
- Supporting projects with design review, optioneering and decision making (including supporting the justification that risks have been reduced to As Low As Reasonably Practicable).
- Delivery of DSEAR and Hazardous Area training. We deliver the EI15 training course on behalf of the Energy Institute and also offer DSEAR training to customers. We tailor these courses to the industry and hazards on a client’s site. We have experience of delivering training courses to nuclear clients.
- Leading the development of relevant good practice in DSEAR. Tetra Tech sit on the authoring committee for EI15 Model Code of Safe Practice Part 15: Area Classification. We also revalidated all the zone extent and ventilation requirements for the 5th Edition that was published in 2024 and calculated zone extents for both gaseous and liquid hydrogen which were previously not included.
