Whenever technical measures are deployed to separate people from dangerous moving parts of machinery, it is vital to ensure that the measure is far enough away to prevent access. Factors that must be considered include stopping time and speed of approach and the possibility of circumvention of the measure by reaching over, under or through. Pilz will discuss two key standards (ISO 13855 and ISO 13857) which are relevant to this topic.

If safeguards are manipulated, serious accidents or damage to machinery may result; the legal and financial risks are difficult to calculate. Pilz will share more about how to identify the causes and avoid manipulations with reference to key standard ISO 14119.
