Evac+Chair unveils advanced powered evacuation chair
Established in 1982, Evac+Chair is a trusted leader in
emergency evacuation solutions, with a strong focus in the care sector. Its
life-saving evacuation chairs are widely used in care homes, hospitals, and
healthcare facilities to ensure the safe and dignified evacuation of vulnerable
individuals in an emergency.
Designed for rapid deployment and ease of use, the new
Evac+Power 1000H combines lightweight engineering with powerful performance, to
ensure safe stairway evacuations for individuals with reduced mobility during
emergencies. Building on over four decades of expertise, the Evac+Power 1000H
marks a major advancement in the Evac+Chair range, boasting the highest payload
capacity in the world at 270kg, without compromising portability.
Its lightweight frame enhances manoeuvrability and
simplifies storage, making it both powerful and practical. Equipped with an
integrated 36V lithium-ion battery, it delivers smooth, controlled stairway
ascent and descent, providing up to 90 minutes or 150 flights of stairs of
continuous use on a full charge. This enables carers to efficiently evacuate
multiple residents quickly and safely when every second counts.
Claire Blakemore, Managing Director of Evac+Chair,
confirmed: “We are thrilled to unveil the launch of the Evac+Power 1000H. The
product is lighter, stronger and easier to use than anything we’ve built before
and is a testament to our commitment to making evacuation safer, faster and
more inclusive.
“Under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, as
amended by the Fire Safety Act 2021, the ‘responsible person’, such as a care
home manager, is legally required to carry out fire risk assessments and
implement safe evacuation procedures. This obligation is particularly crucial
for ensuring the safe evacuation of individuals with mobility challenges, which
is where our new Evac+Power 1000H comes into use.
“However, whilst a fire might be the first scenario that
springs to mind where an Evac+Chair could be utilised, they can also be
deployed in a wide range of scenarios such as during health emergencies, lift
failures and natural disasters.
“In a care home environment, a lift failure or outage can
leave residents, particularly those with limited mobility, unable to access
communal areas, negatively affecting their wellbeing. Prompt action is
essential to protect their dignity, quality of life, and ensure safe evacuation
in the event of an emergency.
“As more care home facilities integrate Evac+Chairs, we’re
confident that carers nationwide will be impressed by the exceptional
performance and advanced capabilities of our new Evac+Power 1000H.”
Part of the Allvida Group since 2020, Evac+Chair continues
